Spice Route Bushvine Mourvedre (South Africa)
Spice Route Bushvine Mourvedre (South Africa)
This 100% Mourvedre from South Afrcia's Western Cape is satisfyingly dense and intense, perfectly showcasing the characteristics of the mighty Mourvedre varietal. This wine balances intense fruit and aromatic spice, hence the wine's name. Expect opulent aromas of black cherry, raspberry, and black fruit on the palate. Unique cardamom and nutmeg notes work alongside wild herbs and well-integrated oak to increase the complexity of the wine. The wine has a medium-bodied mouthfeel, with ripe tannins and a subtle savoury edge.
The Spice Route winery was established in 1997. It is equipped with all modern facilities, but still follows ancient winemaking processes. The wines created here are unique due to the ripe fruits producing bold flavours and a spicy, tannic finish.
These fruits are grown over 110 hectares of vineyards in Swartland’s Klein Amoskuil farm, which once was a tobacco farm. The fruits benefit from the natural resources that the terroir is blessed with. Some grapes grown in the neighbouring farms are used as well.
This wine would go amazingly with smoky, barbecued red meat or oyster mushroom kebabs.
