Roc des Boutires Mâcon-Solutré Pouilly-Fuisse (France)

This white Burgundy from the Pouilly-Fuisse appellation is a rare delight. The Chardonnay is entirely unoaked, allowing its ripe peach character and subtle minerality to shine through. On the palate it is silky and boasts delicate apricot and pineapple flavours and is as elegant as Joanna Lumley wearing a fur coat and a diamond tiara. Very special.

These Chardonnay vines are 45 years old! This means they produce less fruit with a much more concentrated flavour profile. The vines are planted on predominantly clay-limestone soils at altitudes ranging between 210 - 430 metres above sea level, a position that lends great freshness to the finished wines.

This wine makes an elegant gift, or is well-paired with creamy pasta and risottos.
