Now this Port is a real step up, with toasty aromas of nuts, coffee and chocolate, and hints of orange peel. On the palate it is rich and smooth, and it’s full of ripe fruit flavours than linger on the long, elegant finish..... This really is quite something.
Quinta do Vale Meão have been making fantastic port for many years. They don't bottle everything they make straight away, and leave a proportion to age in their cellars. After many years of this investment, they now have sufficient reserves to draw from and create this wonderful 10 year old tawny port.
What sets this tawny apart is that it has been aged at the quinta, in the Douro Superior. This means it shows a very different developemental character to other tawny ports, most of which are aged in Vila Nova de Gaia, far cooler by the coast!
Try this with nutty cheese like Manchego, or with a classic sticky toffee pudding.
This wine is Non-Vintage.
