Ontañón Rioja Gran Reserva (Spain)

This Rioja Gran Reserva is a taste of absolute Spanish class from our friends at Bodegas Ontañon! 

This is a beautifully developed Rioja oozing with dark fruit, vanilla and tobacco flavours. The palate offers complexity and structure with layers of fruit, spice and toasty oak. The finish is long and persistent, with the brightness of the fruit conveying elegance. If you have a wine lover in your life who deserves a gift, this Gran Reserva certainly fits the bill. 

This wine is mostly Tempranillo, blended with some Graciano grapes. Graciano’s spiciness, acidity and tannin make it the perfect blending partner for Tempranillo. The grapes are sourced from La Pasada Vineyard, at 700-800m altitude, on the slopes of the Sierra Yerga Mountains of Rioja Baja. The wine spends 36 months in a mixture of American and French oak, and 24 months in bottle prior to release.

Serve this wine with roast meat dishes, or simply with fine ham and cheeses.
