Mother Rock Liquid Skin (South Africa)
Mother Rock Liquid Skin (South Africa)
This cult orange wine made from whole bunch fermented Chenin Blanc is left on skins for 12 weeks. The resulting wine is a deep golden yellow hue with a kaleidoscope of aromas from pineapple, quince, green mango, lychee and apricot, to honey and toasted nuts. There's plenty of freshness and minerality on the palate, with a touch of grip and a long citrus finish.
The Chenin for this wine is from a single vineyard on the outskirts of Malmesbury, planted with dry farmed bush vines. The grapes are grown in granite soil, and the wine is aged for 5 months concrete egg, giving the wine its minerality. This is serious and structured, but equally naughtily drinkable.
Grab this to drink with your mates as a fun aperitif, or drink alongside Thai food.
