Montresor Urban Park Appassimento (Italy)
Montresor Urban Park Appassimento (Italy)
Montresor's 'Wine Urban Park' is one of our all-time best-sellers. It's not hard to see why; this wine is quaffable, fruity and provides great value for money. Bring this wine along to any event - it's incredibly hard to dislike.
Urban Park is produced from classic Amarone and Valpolicella grapes: Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella. 'Appassimento' refers to the process by which the grapes are dried for a few months before being pressed and vinified - this technique is more common in the Veneto than elsewhere in Italy. In this instance, the grapes are dried for 30 days before vinification, and the wine spends 6 months in oak. The resulting wine provides bright berry and black cherry aromas on the nose, along with a touch of spice. The palate has all of Valpolicella's appealing fresh cherry and ripe bramble fruit. Supple tannins lead to a finish of delicate sweetness, offset by fresh acidity.
The Montresor family moved from France to Italy at the start of the 19th Century, and settled in the Veneto region near Lake Garda. Today, they craft wines over 100 hectares of land in Valpolicella and Garda.
Urban Park is perfect with barbecue food, slow-cooked and caramelised meat dishes, or strong-flavoured cheeses.
