False Bay Syrah (South Africa)
False Bay Syrah (South Africa)
This is a deliciously ripe, spicy, great value red from South Africa's beautiful False Bay slopes!
The fruit profile is ripe and dark, yet elegant, boasting a plethora of bramble fruits as well as some earthy, meaty aromas. The palate is structured with fine tannins and a refreshing natural acidity, thanks to cooling maritime influences. Wild yeast fermentation, low yields and ageing in large French oak foudre are what defines this savoury and appealing Syrah.
The grapes for False Bay Old School Syrah stem primarily from two vineyards in Stellenbosch. The attraction to these coastal, vineyards were the cooler temperatures and low yields of small, naturally balanced and concentrated berries. Made by Waterkloof’s talented young Cellar master Nadia Barnard. Waterkloof is owned by Paul Boutinot, originally from Heaton Moor!
Grown, made, bottled in South Africa, and vegan and natural to boot.
Ideal with rich, North African or Mediterranean dishes, such as tomatoey, spicy aubergine tagine.
