This is an easy-breezy Carignan from Central Valley, Chile that tastes like blueberries dusted with spices!

The nose lively with fresh red berry compote and a touch of liquorice. The palate is hugely juicy, fresh with a gentle seam of tannin structure that is ultimately soft and supple. This is a juicy, aromatic bottle of joy!

The humble Carignan variety can produce captivating wines when grown in adversity. In the coastal mountains of Chile, the grapes for Debajo wine are grown in an unirrigated, rocky vineyard where the vines' roots have to burrow deep to find water, nutrients and minerals. This struggle results in a wine with great concentration of flavours! This gives the wines their name - 'debajo' means 'beneath'!

This Chilean Carignan is blended with 15% Grenache for a hint of soft red fruity balance against savoury black fruit flavours.

Great with simple, rustic, flavoursome cooking: slow-cooked lamb stew, spicy bean casserole or roasted red meat.
