Château Maucoil Rouge (France)
Château Maucoil Rouge (France)
Top quality, single estate, organic Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages.
Its proximity to the Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards and the similarity of its soil (a mixture of sand and pebbles), as well as the old vines from which it hails, gives this wine great concentration and loads of character.
A blend of Grenache (50%) Syrah (25%) and Mourvèdre (25%). After a fermentation period of around 25 days, the wines are drawn off and then aged in vats until bottling.
A big powerful southern Rhône wine. Ripe, fresh sweet-spiced black fruits on the nose, this Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages is full-bodied yet finely structured and balanced with a nicely lifted, finish and good length.
Château Maucoil has a longer history than most estates. It served as a base for Roman legions who were attracted by the spring that runs through the property and by the proximity of the Via Agrippa. Some of the vines date back to 1895!
Pair with anything grilled.
