Boutinot Cairanne 'Les Six' (France)

Who needs Chateauneuf-du-Pape when you can have this rewarding Rhone red at half the price? Blended from six grapes, this delivers on every level, with peppery red and black fruit flavours and a plush texture. Perfectly paired with roasted chicken and lamb dishes or robustly flavoured vegetarian fare. Highly recommended.

This wine definitely packs a punch so could benefit from opening at least half an hour before drinking! The blend is mostly Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, with a cheeky 5% of Carignan, Counoise and Cinsault respectively, for balance and finesse.
