How about it? Another banging Winter warmer from Boutinot. These guys are your favourite Stockport-hailing winemakers and importers producing in France.

'Les Six' Cairanne harnesses of all the red and black fruit flavours you could possibly ask for. It's soft and juicy, with perfectly balanced tannin, heaps of berry flavour, and a satisfying pepperiness. It also showcases the classic freshness we know and love in wines from hillside vineyards.

The style is approachable and not overly tannic, with a lovely texture. It definitely packs a punch so could benefit from opening at least half an hour before drinking! The blend is mostly Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, with a cheeky 5% of Carignan, Counoise and Cinsault respectively, for balance and finesse.

Boutinot’s love affair with the Southern Rhône spans thirty years! In 2010, the relationship was sealed, with the purchase of a winery near the village of Cairanne. Domaine Boutinot’s seven vineyards are planted with classic southern Rhône grape varieties – old vine Grenache Noir and Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan Noir. Alongside this, Boutinot are working with their neighbours to revive traditional grape varieties such as Cinsault and Counoise.

Pair this wine with hearty food: roasted chicken and lamb dishes, or robustly flavoured vegetarian fare.
