They’ve been making wine in Georgia longer than any country on the planet, so it’s fair to say that they know what they’re doing! Bedoba Saperavi in particular is now the best-selling red in our shops.
This wine is partially vinified in traditional quevri (clay) pots and is monstrously full-bodied, with brooding black fruit flavours and a creamy, juicy texture. It also has a slight herbal note on the finish which really lifts the wine, almost stratospherically.
Bedoba means `Day of Luck', referring to the 2nd of January, which is celebrated as a day of new beginnings in Georgia.
This wine is very versatile for food pairing, excellent with roast lamb or beef, grilled pork skewers, grilled oyster mushrooms, hard cheese such as Comté, Gruyère... the choices are endless!
