Barbeito Rainwater 5 year old Reserva Madeira (Portugal)

A medium-dry, 5-year-old Madeira from our favourite winemaker in the entire world - with dried fruit & orange blossom aromas. Soft, yet full-bodied on the palate, with a long finish. An excellent aperitif, but also wonderful with French onion soup, a cheeseboard, mushroom dishes, game terrine.

Barbeito are one of the smallest Madeira Wine producers, only founded in 1946 but have an extraordinary reputation.  Ricardo de Freitas, the founder’s grandson took over in the ‘90’s, reinventing the traditional wines and techniques.  He was the first to bottle Madeira wine without adding caramel and has also bottled from a single cask, which was once a traditional way.
