TASTING NOTES:
Greenish gold. Aromatic and fresh on the nose.
Notes of armagnac, apricot, orange blossom, white sultana and sea breeze.
Round and delicate in the mouth, the fresh acidity balances the entire palate. Some white pepper flavour on the finish with a good dryness. Excellent as an aperitif. Pairs well with cold cuts and cheese.
VINEYARDS & VINIFICATION:
Grapes from a single vineyard located in São Vicente on the north coast of the island.
Since 1996, Barbeito have been vinifying the wines from this vineyard separately. The grapes are characterized by their exceptional acidity.
The grapes were harvested in the second week of September and were pressed in a horizontal screw press. Fermentation lasted 7 days and was stopped by the adding vinic alcohol at 96o, resulting in a 17o wine. In March 2008, they separated the wine from the lees and stored it in old French oak casks in our warehouse E where it aged until its bottling in February 2023. Barbeito bottled the wine in two different types of bottles: 924 500ml units and 36 double magnums.
SERVING & CELLARAGE:
Serve best at 11/12oC.
This wine was filtered and does not require decanting; it will last and maintain in good condition several months once opened.
