Tasting Notes:
Greenish-golden colour.
Very elegant on the nose with fresh and subtle aromas. Notes of ripe apricot and some hay. Delicate, very fine on the palate with a well balanced acidity, flavours of yellow plum. Boasting great finesse, this has a fresh and persistent finish. Excellent as an aperitif, with savoury snacks and olives.
Vinification:
Inspired by an 1825 Rainwater, Barbeito created this blend which is a journey into the past of Madeira wine. The most widely used grape variety for making Rainwater in the past was Verdelho, of which they used 85% from the year 2014. They put 2.500 litres to age in a wooden vat with a capacity of 2.800 litres with the aim of inducing very slow oxidation to the wine. To this blend, they added 15% of a 2017 Sercial, aged in a 620-litrr cask that was in their warehouse E, the coolest of the several they own. Bottled in April 2024.
